The first inspiration I had for this project was from my own personal experience.  Growing up in New Jersey, I had a lot of opportunities to visit New York, and whenever I was there, I saw buskers performing.  I was amazed by how talented they were, and how they didn’t care where they were performing, just so long as they WERE performing.

The biggest inspiration actually comes from a project started years ago called Playing for Change.

Playing for change is an organization that records several different musicians from around the world, performing the same song, and organizing it into one collaborative video.  Their purpose is to “connect the world through music”, and promoting peace and community.  They have produced several videos performing several very famous songs, including Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me”, Bob Marley’s “One Love”, and The Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter”.

In general, I am hoping to create a community of musicians through the internet, with the help of Google and Facebook.  There are several individual projects that have done this, and many different documentary films following the fascinating world of buskers.  I am not trying to imitate them, nor am I necessarily trying to compete with them.  I just love music, and I want it to be a part of my life forever.

    • Certainly. Any help is welcome!

Right now, I’m more focused on trying to get more people to add their experiences of buskers on either the WordPress, the Facebook page, or the Twitter account. Technically, you would be helping simply by posting stories or anything you found about busking.

I really appreciate your interest in this project! I wish you the best of luck with yours!
